The Science Behind Creating a Lion’s Mane Gummy for Focus Support
Do you occasionally have trouble concentrating or feeling forgetful? Are you looking for a third-party tested solution that you can trust? Then you’ll want to learn more about Charlotte's Web™ Focus Support Mushroom Gummies, powered with the fruiting body of lion’s mane mushroom.
Let’s dive into the science behind lion’s mane, and why we chose it as a star ingredient of our new functional mushroom gummy line.
Benefits of Lion’s Mane Mushroom
Known for its white, round, shaggy appearance and affinity to support brain health, lion’s mane has been traditionally consumed for centuries as a food and natural remedy in Chinese herbalism.
Lion’s mane is rich in polysaccharides and terpenoids that are known to benefit the brain and nervous system, as well as compounds called hericenones, which have been found to support healthy brain cell production and memory.* When translated into everyday benefits, lion's mane is an excellent adaptogen to help sharpen your focus and support healthy cognitive function throughout the day*.
Our delicious tangerine-flavored Focus gummies include a potent 1.2g of fresh weight lion’s mane per serving to help keep you focused and sharp every day,* so you can take advantage of those benefits.
Functional Mushroom Gummies for Focus
The choice we made to include 1.2g of fresh weight lion’s mane per serving was no coincidence.
Lion’s Mane has several compounds which may have potential neuroprotective and neuroregenerative applications*. Specific compounds in lion’s mane, such as polysaccharides and two types of terpenoids (i.e., hericenones and erinacines) have been linked to lion’s mane benefits.
Because of this, scientists have been studying how lion’s mane might help our brains work, and help us do everyday tasks.
In one study, healthy adults took lion’s mane and had increased performance on The Stroop Task. Other studies have looked at how taking lion’s mane daily can help older people with memory problems, resulting in improvements through different cognitive tests.
The daily serving found in our Focus Support gummies taken one to two times per day (1,200 mg- 2,400 mg) falls in the line with these studied amounts.
How to Find High-Quality Lion’s Mane Gummies
When you think of mushrooms, you likely think about the cap that’s growing above ground – that's known as the fruiting body of the mushroom. These fruiting bodies have dense, varied nutrient content.
There’s also a much larger part of the mushroom that grows underground – that is known as the mycelium of the mushroom. While mycelium contains unique compounds and nutrients as compared to the the fruiting body, it can still provide some helpful wellness benefits. However, low-quality mycelium is often grown on grains so the final product may contain more grain than mushroom.
Inclusion of the fruiting body and proof of third-party testing results is a strong sign of quality mycelium in a supplement.
Cognitive Enhancement with Mushrooms: Why We Made a Focus Support Gummy
If you’re a long-time Charlotte’s Web™ community member, then you might know that we already have an NSF Certified for Sport® broad spectrum hemp gummy with lion’s mane mushroom. So, why did we make this one?
To give anyone that is getting their hemp through another product or moment in their ritual, or who aren’t interested in using hemp, another option for supporting their mental clarity.* There is no better option than lion’s mane for a gummy like that, in our opinion.
