Our Original Formula is pretty special. It was the CBD that first got a lot of people talking about how CBD works in the body, and it ended up launching the CBD industry.

There are a few reasons that Original Formula stands out from other CBD products:

1) The hemp itself is unique: It's made from a unique hemp cultivar called Proprietary Hemp Genetics. It’s a proprietary hemp genetic that we cultivate and grow on our own farms and on just two other partner farms. This cultivar has a special phytocannabinoid fingerprint and is only used in Charlotte’s Web Original Formula.

Reminder: you should know where your hemp comes from because the hemp plant cleans the air and soil it’s surrounded by, and if the soil, water, or air is contaminated, the hemp plant will pull up those toxins. That’s why we’re extremely specific about where and how it’s grown.

2) Extraction type: Most CBD products are extracted using CO2 extraction. In fact, many of our Charlotte’s Web products are made using supercritical CO2 extraction, but Original Formula is made through IPA alcohol extraction. This artisanal process creates a more earthy flavor and produces a bounty of plant compounds: CBD, additional cannabinoids, and a unique terpene profile. (There's no residual alcohol left; it’s removed in the process.)

3) Full-Spectrum Extract: The extract produced is called “full spectrum” because it retains the variety of cannabinoids and plant compounds found in hemp naturally. Except for our THC Free† tincture, all our CBD products, including Original Formula, are full spectrum. This harmony of plant matter works synergistically to heighten the positive effects of cannabidiol and is put to use by the body’s endocannabinoid system, a network of receptors designed to keep the body in good health. Since research shows that using a full spectrum maximizes benefits delivered throughout the body and supplies additional wellness components, we make sure to give you as much of Mother Nature’s goodness as we can.

4) Terpenes: While other CO2 extracts can offer a full spectrum, they often do not offer as robust a terpene profile as Original Formula. Terpenes are compounds produced by plants and offer their own health benefits.
