There are several methods of reducing knee pain, like ice and stretching, but did you know that the CBDMEDIC™ line by Charlotte’s Web can help support temporary pain relief from arthritis as well? Our line offers a pure, natural temporary pain relief method. Read on to learn more about how to temporarily relieve minor knee pain caused by arthritis.

Knee Pain Relief Methods for Arthritis

Below are some of the top methods for temporarily reducing minor knee pain from arthritis, allowing you to get back to enjoying your daily activities:

Knee Pain Relief Exercises for Arthritis

Keeping our bodies in active shape is essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In addition to supporting general health goals, regular exercise can help support arthritic knee pain relief by:

  • helping you achieve and manage a healthy weight
  • helping you maintain joint flexibility
  • helping you strengthen muscles around your joints, which offers more joint support.

Regular Stretching

Although practicing aerobic exercise is incredibly important, it is not enough on its own to support your muscles and joints. According to a Harvard Medical School article, “...stretching keeps...muscles flexible, strong, and healthy,” and failing to stretch regularly can put you at risk for worse joint pain.

Essentially, stretching allows for support in joints and muscles, which can offer knee pain relief caused by arthritis.

Massage

Massage, including self-massage, can be helpful with arthritis-related knee pain. The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) recommends these self-massaging techniques that can be done in a seated position:

To begin, have your knees pointing forward and your feet flat on the floor:

  1. Close your hands into loose fists, then tap your upper, lower, and middle thighs 10 times with both fists. Repeat three times.
  2. Sit with your feet flat on the floor, place the heels of your hands on the top of your thighs and glide them as far as your knees, then release. Repeat this five times. Do the same for the outer and inner sides of your thighs.
  3. Press four fingers into your knee tissue and move up and down five times. Repeat all around your knees.
  4. Place your palms on top of your thighs, glide them down your thighs, over the knees, and then back up your outer thighs.

Hot and Cold Therapy

The tried and true methods of applying heat and cold to injuries are completely applicable to arthritis treatment.

As a general rule, cold should be applied to acute injury or pain, (less than four weeks since the onset). If you are tending chronic pain applying heat is recommended to support comfort. With any chronic pain, always consult your healthcare practitioner first.

Medication

Over-the-counter medications, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen, (Advil, Motrin IB), or naproxen sodium (Aleve), can help relieve occasional flare-ups of mild pain.

Consult your doctor if over-the-counter medications don't relieve your pain, or if you are using over-the-counter pain relievers regularly, as, over time these might inflict some effects on the stomach and kidneys.
